Dr Hannah Fry on the Science Weekly Podcast

While I admit that my mathematical ability is unfortunately lacking thanks in part to the poor academic environment where I grew up, I’m still fascinated by the power of numbers. Even if I don’t always understand the underlying mechanics, I still walk away impressed by math’s ability to describe how life, the universe, and, well, pretty much everything in-between, works.

Among my favorite popular mathematicians is Dr. Hannah Fry, whose latest book, Hello World: Being Human in the Age of Algorithms, I’m presently reading on the Kindle app on my iPad Pro. It’s an excellent look at how algorithms influence our daily lives for both good and bad, and was rightly shortlisted for the 2018 Royal Society Investment Science Book Prize.

While I recommend also checking out Fry’s past hosting and media appearances, she can be found on The Guardian‘s recent Science Weekly podcast, where she talks about her love of mathematical sciences and a bit about the aforementioned book. It’s definitely worth a listen. Math on!
