The Retrospec Adult Bike Helmet, labeled as “Remi Helmet” on the box, is available in seven different colors and three different sizes: Small (54-57cm), Medium (57-59cm), and Large (59-62cm). I got the Matte Black in Large.
I was actually already pretty happy with my OutdoorMaster Cycling Helmet, but thought this Retrospec Remi might be a bit more stylish. I need a decent helmet because I ride a Rattan LF 750w electric bike, which can easily reach speeds in excess of 25 mph.
The Retrospec Remi arrives in a fairly basic brown box and contains the helmet, a pair of removable padding (one pre-installed), and some paperwork. There’s little to do once you take the helmet out of the box other than put the helmet on and adjust the strap to your liking.
While it’s a nice-looking, well-designed helmet, one major disappointment is that there’s no adjustment wheel. You adjust the straps and that’s it, so there’s no additional fine-tuning possible like there is with my existing OutdoorMaster helmet.
The lack of fine fit adjustments aside, the helmet is comfortable and breathable, and of course the aforementioned removable padding is washable, which is an important consideration.
Ultimately, while I like this helmet, I will strictly be using it as a backup. I really do think an adjustment wheel is a necessity for the most secure fit. If that’s not important to you, I can say that everything else about this helmet is quite nice and seems true to size. You also can’t discount the wide range of color options, something that many other manufacturers overlook.
