I found the simple subject matter of a woman playing a violin quite appealing, with a real artistic flair to the design, so I thought it ideal for my first foray into an adult paint-by-numbers project. Frankly, with these overseas productions, you just don’t know what you’re going to get. Fortunately, the CaptainCrafts Paint by Number Kit – Violin Girl – 16×20 inch package is quite compelling, despite the value pricing.
The outer packaging is generic and mostly not in English. There’s a sticker on the front indicating how the finished artwork inside should look. Inside you get the linen canvas, with a detailed and numbered line drawing. The corresponding numbers match the numbers on the included paint pots. There are also three sizes of paintbrushes and mounts for when you want to hang your finished masterpiece. English instructions with a decent amount of detail are included, although it’s something of a rough translation.
Overall, this is a great package and I definitely look forward to the finished product. While I don’t think it will come out particularly well for my first time with a project of this type, much of the fun is in the experience and learning. My own experience and expertise aside, I feel like everything is here to help me succeed, and, more importantly, to have fun trying.
