The Sparkle Crystal Heating Pad Mat makes for an interesting review for me. While I’m a non-believer in spiritual energy and other non-scientific woo, there are still real benefits to a therapeutic product like this despite its other, more questionable trappings.
While you can get larger mats – even full-sized/body ones – this 20 x 20 inch model is a reasonable compromise for easier transportability and more versatile use cases. For instance, besides laying directly on it, you can easily place it on your back, stomach, or other body part while seated.
At my relatively advanced age of 49 and high fitness activity levels, my most pressing needs are to keep my back and neck loose, as well as continue to rehab a left shoulder injury from my many decades of weight training. For those needs, I found the penetrating heat to be quite therapeutic.
In the package, you get the heating pad mat, wired remote control and power cable, a massage table cover, and documentation. The mat itself uses infrared heat that’s adjustable from roughly 35 degrees Celsius to 70 degrees Celsius – which is about 95 to 158 degrees Fahrenheit – to better reach muscle tissue. The company compares the highest heat levels to what you experience in a sauna, albeit with the use of “cleansing” and “detoxification” buzz words that again, I don’t subscribe to.
New age buzz words aside, I find the infrared heat to have good distribution and a nice effect on the muscles and muscle groups I use it on. For those who care, there are photon red energy lights in the center of the pad, as well as just over two pounds of crushed amethyst crystals inside the mat, which are visible through the clear panel (at least they look interesting).
Whatever holistic claims this product makes, I don’t buy into. If you do, great, and consider this a product that ticks all the expected marketing points. For those of us who subscribe to a different, scientific belief system, I still feel that there’s enough quality in the manufacturing of this product and enough benefit gained from how the heating system works to recommend it. Even at its relatively high price in comparison to regular heating pads, the Sparkle Crystal Heating Pad Mat does the heating part in a way that arguably justifies it, even without having to buy into the less evidence-based claims.
