Approximately 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's and dementia.
In a first, researchers have identified that people who inherit two copies of the APOE4 gene are at a greater risk for Alzheimer’s. In fact, the research suggests that for people who carry two copies, rather than just one, of the gene, it can be considered an underlying cause, rather than just a risk factor, for the disease.
