It’s a simple premise, executed beautifully. Have a powered, magnetic platform, then levitate a lightweight object above it and make it automatically spin. Oh, and then have the object light up with the same type of wireless power used to charge your smartphone.

In the box, you get the plastic (PLA) moon, with excellent detail, albeit with some horizontal banding on the lunar maria if you look closely You also get an AC adapter and the base, as well as some documentation that’s not in English. Fortunately, it’s not that hard to setup.

Basically, you plug in the base and then find the setpoint between the moon and the magnet on the base. They say it’s about 15mm, but basically, you use the bottom of your hands to hold down the base to keep it from being attracted to the moon (and vice-versa), and then slowly pull the moon down until you feel it float. After that, you can remove your hands and the moon will spin on its own.

Pressing the button on the base changes the moon from white light to yellow light, and then off. Even with the light off, the moon continues to spin as long as the base has power.

Overall, I really love how this levitating moon prop looks and works. Again, it’s a simple premise that works extremely well and makes for a unique decoration.
