As someone who stutters, I always find it gratifying to listen to inspiring stories about those who have either come to positive terms with the daily challenges or who have succeeded on their own terms when it comes to stuttering. Although my disfluency has indeed gotten me down and I’ve lost out on or had to turn down various potentially life-changing personal and professional opportunities, I still feel like I’ve accomplished everything I’ve personally wanted to in my life, with much more to come. That’s part of why I’m always quick to give positive feedback and support to those who are down about their stuttering.

Dr. Michael Boyle

Related to the above, episode 667 of the long-running StutterTalk podcast, Chaya Goldstein interviews Dr. Michael Boyle, an Associate Professor of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Montclair State University, and someone who also deals with the challenges of stuttering. I found Dr. Boyle’s personal and professional accounts quite interesting and inspiring, and think that if you also stutter, you may very well have the same reaction I did. Here’s the direct link to check it out. And remember, you’re not alone, and don’t have to let stuttering hold you back.
