Review: GAN 100W USB and Type-C Power Adapter

With today’s laptops, console and PC gaming handhelds, tablets, smartphones, and just about any other device standardizing around USB-C, adapters like the GAN 100W USB and Type-C Power Adapter become vital. With up to 90W of total output on its first and second USB-C ports (90W for one, or 60W + 30W if you use both), and up to 22.5W (22.5W with 60W on one of the USB-C ports) of output on its USB-A port, you can power and charge even the most demanding devices.

It’s a compact, self-contained brick, with its two-prong AC plug folding out when needed. It’s quite sturdy and well-designed and should survive for years being tossed around in a bag. When power is applied, the lighting bolt on the USB side lights up green.

It’s a nice size for all of its power.

If you’re looking for the ultimate USB-C power adapter and charger, this should be under serious consideration. Whether it’s a 17-inch laptop or something more modest, the GAN will have no issues.

Review: SAVIOR HEAT Heated Gloves

My extremities tend to get very cold in New Jersey winters, so I was excited to see a product like the SAVIOR HEAT Heated Gloves. Like other modern gloves, these are three finger touchscreen capable, but with the added bonus of rechargeable battery-powered heating elements embedded inside.

It’s a complete bundle.

In the box you get the gloves, two batteries, dual USB charging cable, USB AC adapter, carrying case, and instructions.

The gloves themselves look really good and are extremely well designed, particularly with the extra long cuffs. The large fit well, like other large gloves typically fit my hands.

The color of the light indicates the heating level.

Although pricey, these gloves work exactly how they’re supposed to. The three levels of heat are a good match for various cold conditions and, at the lowest level, can last for just over six hours. That’s plenty of time for shoveling snow or most other activities.

Review: YCYD-LTC 60W Desktop USB Charger (12 port)

For those of us with lots of USB devices to charge, something like this 12 port YCYD-LTC 60W Desktop USB Charger is a big help. At only 4 and a half inches long, two inches high, and just under 2 and a half inches wide, it’s nice and compact, so can fit just about anywhere.

What you get.

In the box, you get the USB charger and two-prong power cable that’s about 4.8 feet long (roughly 58 inches). Although that doesn’t seem like a particularly long power cord, it’s actually a bit longer than usual for a device like this.

While you can charge devices on all 12 ports, with only 60W to distribute, charging will slow to a trickle. However, the option is there if you really need it. Where this device will have its biggest value in my opinion is when you have a handful of USB device plugged in at any one time and then need to plug in one or two additional devices now and again.

The blue power lights are always on.

Because of all of the USB ports and potential load, it does have generous vents and an aluminum heat sink to dissipate heat. Fortunately, no fan is needed, so it’s silent in operation.

About the only annoyance is that the blue power indicator lights are always lit for every USB port when power is applied to the unit. Overall, though, this is a really handy product that works well.
